What I preferred about having a rolling backpack: In the whole three week journey I solely needed to put this bag on my back once, in Cinque Terre, Italy once we had to climb a couple of very steep staircases to get to our B&B. In all places else I rolled it. Our itinerary was fairly perfect for a rolling backpack, but if you are going to more distant areas or much less fashionable locations perhaps rethink a rolling bag, it wouldn’t be my first alternative for dust roads or off street hiking!
