Born and raised in Mississippi, Robert Johnson started taking part in blues guitar in the late 1920s. His spouse and little one died in childbirth round 1930 and he’s mentioned to have devoted himself to the guitar. Part of the crossroads story comes from a report that he dropped out of sight for a while within the early thirties and returned a much-improved guitarist.
He left Buffalo and performed with a mid-west group called the Four Clefs. He was drafted into the US Military shortly thereafter, but this was to be to his benefit, as he met drummer Billy Cobham. Cobham, a mainstay in New York Metropolis, introduced Washington to many New York musicians. After leaving the Military, Washington freelanced his skills round New York City, eventually landing in Philadelphia in 1967.
For lunch I had the Country Fried Chicken, two plump rooster breasts breaded and fried just good…something you’d anticipate from southern comfort meals. The rooster was smothered of their homemade cream gravy and served with garlic-mashed potatoes and collard greens with ham. As a kid all of my summers had been spent on my grandfathers farm in Georgia and I realized what southern cooking was all about. This Country Fried Chicken, gravy and greens nail it! Regardless that I needed to eat it all as a result of it tasted so good, I made a decision to carry half again for a tasty meal later that night time.
Traits come and go, kinds fall out and in of vogue, however The Sheepdogs stay steadfast of their dedication to rock n’ roll excellence. Since their inception, the band has at all times sought to play the form of music they themselves love: Pure, easy, good-time music,” as singer/guitarist Ewan Currie puts it. It’s no shock, then, that the band’s fifth LP, Future Nostalgia”, is firmly rooted within the rock tradition that listeners have come to count on from the boys.
